Space Cadet #4 - What lies ahead?

Space Cadet #4 - What lies ahead?

Anotace: #4 - What lies ahead?

Not much has changed on the beach; my presence were the only thing that decorated a barrens. My clothes that were soaked in water dried out in a matter of several seconds in this consistent heat. I wish that it was half as cool as it was in the ship. Just for safety precautions I pulled out one of the blasters from the holster with my left hand and unsheathed the sword with the other. Who knows what’s waiting for me ahead, especially when I’m planning to wander through the jungle. As I’ve been moving in through the jungle, I hacked my way through countless bamboo stalks and stems. Sweat was flowing down over my body like a waterfall. Those few hours of exploration added up to my exhaustion that I’ve been bearing since I was exploring the ship. I wondered whether there’s a night at all, because so far I haven’t noticed the sun to move or the heat to diminish at all.

As I was hack and slashing through the jungle, I realized how much I needed to find some safe shelter! I think that I was quite lucky that I made it through untouched by anything, when I was unconscious on the beach. But despite the fact that it might be safe there, it’s not an option to stay there anymore if I want to advance with my exploration. In fact I think I should try my chances at the ship wreckage… Actually forget about that, that’s even a more stupid and dangerous idea. I swear to god that these sun rays will sooner or later melt my skin away! And I still have no shelter! Despite that I was blindly wandering in this jungle, I suddenly felt that I was getting somewhere. And indeed I did. First I stumbled upon a palm tree with ready-to-be-harvested coconuts on it; right on it, I took few steps further on from the palm tree, it positioned me in front of something like a den! Alright it may just be a den, but when I stepped inside the den… I finally managed to not only pleasant breezes, but also water that flowed through it. This could eventually become my shelter. So I got a few problems out of my way, but at least another thousand are still waiting to be dealt with. Before settling in I decided to re-survey the surrounding and then I proceeded to make an improvised bed from available materials. I made a smaller fire in an attempt to sterilize and close my wounds. Well it wasn’t exactly the best healing cure, but at least it managed to do the magic for some of the smaller wounds. I felt a bit of pain while doing so, in fact pain was the only thing that’s keeping me alive since… - Honestly I had no idea for how long. My mind was still veiled in darkness, so I tried to search for an answer from my subconscious. Whether it really helped to keep me alive as long as the pain did… Actually what am I even saying? My subconscious was able to orientate me through the ship wreckage, because it knew that I was on that ship already… before. Not just as some pitiful explorer, but as the crew member of that spacecraft.

After a moment of conflicting thoughts and coming to the conclusion that I actually know nothing… I decided that it would be the best time to take a nap! No matter what happens. My body needs some regeneration and so does my mind. I don’t know how I lost my memory, but I’m pretty sure that the headache isn’t the only reason for that. I need to find out, who am I and what happened on that ship. I raised my arm up to check the time on the arm device, so the next time I wake up, I’ll be aware of the time gone by. If there will be some next time.

As I fell into the darkness of sleep, I suddenly woke up in the dream realm. A dense mysterious mist was covering me, noises and voices could be heard from the distance. Then I appeared on that ship. There were big fires all over the place! And then…. I saw her. She was so… perfect, beautiful like a spark of hope amidst despair. In a moment later she was consumed by the fog. The fog was in fact everywhere now. The only thing that I was able to see was this huge being, standing over me – although it was quite close to me, its characteristics were hidden away by the fog. The only thing that could have given me a clue of its identity was its glowing red eyes.

I woke up from the nightmare with my heart racing for its life. I immediately inspected my body, in the process of that I checked my wounds – which have mended into scars by this time already – and after that I looked at the timer. I spent 10 hours sleeping. The sun has rolled down the horizon and a blanket of darkness covered the skies already. This means that there will finally be more friendly climate, but more danger though. However I had this feeling that besides the pain I can handle one other thing… Danger.
